Mirada

Blending mythology, agriculture, and celestial storytelling, Mirada is a Mexican restaurant concept I helped design as part of the hospitality team at KTGY for immersive entertainment destination.

Rooted in the legend of Ix Chel—the Mayan goddess of the moon and sacred maize—Mirada draws on ancient symbolism and seasonal rhythms to create an immersive brand experience that feels both grounded in heritage and elevated for a contemporary setting.

The visual identity for Mirada, a Mexican restaurant located within an immersive entertainment destination, is rooted in the mythology and symbolism of ancient Mayan culture. Inspired by the legend of Ix Chel—the goddess of agriculture, fertility, and the moon—the brand draws from her celestial presence and sacred connection to maize to create a narrative-rich dining experience.

The name Mirada, meaning “gaze” or “view” in Spanish, evokes a sense of looking both inward and upward—toward the stars, the moon, and the rhythms of the natural world. This concept informed the visual language of the brand, which blends ancient iconography with a contemporary elegance.

Custom patterns and graphic motifs are drawn from Mayan glyphs and celestial cycles, creating layered visuals that reference planting seasons, lunar phases, and the sacred geometry of the land. A warm, earthen color palette—infused with deep indigos, golden maize, and soft terra-cottas—grounds the brand in the natural world, while metallic accents hint at the divine.

The result is a visual identity that feels both mythical and modern, honoring Ix Chel’s legacy as a protector of growth while aligning seamlessly with the immersive storytelling environment of the immersive entertainment destination.

The Mirada logo is designed to resemble a modern interpretation of a Mayan glyph—organic, symbolic, and deeply rooted in cultural meaning.

Its fluid lines and carved forms echo ancient stone inscriptions, while subtle celestial elements hint at the moon goddess Ix Chel and her connection to natural cycles. The result is a mark that feels both timeless and sacred, anchoring the brand in myth while remaining visually contemporary.

The tableware palette embraces rich indigo and warm gold tones, creating a striking balance between boldness and elegance.
